Why Work with a Parent Coach? Because You Deserve Support, Too.
Hi there, Parent.
Yes, I’m talking to you—the one who loves their child more than anything, who wants the best for them, who sometimes lies awake at night wondering if they’re doing everything right. I see you. And I know this journey isn’t always what you expected.
Maybe your child isn’t hitting the milestones at the same time as their peers. Maybe their behavior feels confusing or overwhelming. Maybe you imagined a smooth, straightforward path for them, but instead, you’re facing twists and turns you didn’t see coming. If this sounds familiar, I want you to know something: You are not alone, and you don’t have to figure this out by yourself.
This is where a parenting coach comes in.
What Is a Parent Coach?
A parent coach is someone who works alongside you to help navigate the challenges of raising a child—especially when your child’s development looks a little different from what’s considered “typical.” Think of a parent coach as a guide, a resource, and a support system, all in one.
A coach won’t come in with a list of “right” and “wrong” ways to parent. Instead, we listen. A parent coach will help you understand what’s going on with your child, why they might be struggling, and what you can do to support them in a way that fits their unique needs. More importantly, a parenting coach can help you adjust your expectations in a way that makes life easier—not just for your child, but for you, too.
Shifting Expectations and Dreams
When we become parents, we naturally have ideas about what our kids’ lives will look like. Maybe you pictured them making lots of friends easily, excelling in school, or loving the same hobbies you do. But sometimes, our children’s paths don’t match the one we imagined.
Some kids have speech delays, sensory sensitivities, or struggles with social interactions. For some kids, academic learning is harder than it is for other kids their age. Maybe their emotions feel big, and you don’t always know how to help them manage those feelings. When things don’t go as expected, it’s easy to feel frustrated, worried, or even heartbroken.
But here’s the thing: Your child’s journey is beautiful, even if it looks different than you imagined. The Holy Grail of parenting is learning to see and celebrate who children actually are, not just who you expected them to be. And one of the best ways to make that shift is with the help of a parent coach.
When I work with parents, I help them shift their perspective and let go of the pressure to conform (for both themselves and their kids). And when my clients let go of the pressure to compare, parenting becomes so much more joyful and fun (who knew?!).
It’s Not Just About Your Child—It’s About You, Too
You might think a parent coach is just going to teach you how to help your child. And yes, we do that—but we also focus on you. Because parenting a child with unique needs can be exhausting. It can feel isolating. It can bring up guilt, self-doubt, and anxiety.
Parent coaching helps parents build confidence in their decisions. It helps them learn how to advocate for their child, how to communicate effectively with teachers and doctors, and how to find moments of joy even when things feel tough.
A parent coach will also remind parents that self-care is not selfish. If you’re running on empty, it’s going to be much harder to show up for your child in the way they need. Taking care of yourself—whether that means setting boundaries, asking for help, or simply taking a deep breath—matters.
You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
If parenting has felt more challenging than you expected, if you feel like no one understands what you’re going through, if you’re tired of Googling questions and getting conflicting answers—I want you to know that support is out there.
Working with a parent coach doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means you’re strong enough to ask for help when you need it. And that is one of the greatest gifts you can give both yourself and your child.
Your parenting journey may not look exactly the way you imagined, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be wonderful. Working with a parent coach can make it a little easier, a little clearer, and a lot more joyful.
You’ve got this. And if you ever need a little extra support, I’m here.
